Hooves and Hope Circle

A monthly giving community where small, steady gifts create lasting change.

The Hooves & Hope Circle began with the life and legacy of Anna Roan—a 112-minute life that continues to ripple forward in meaningful ways.

Through this community, Anna Roan Ministries is able to provide equine experiences and riding lessons at no cost to those who would not otherwise have the opportunity.

More than a lesson, these moments become places of peace, confidence, healing, and encouragement—often experienced through time with horses, and rooted in the love of Christ.

For just $5 or $10 a month, you can become part of this ongoing story. Small gifts, given consistently, create real impact for kids, families, and horses.

This is what “better together” looks like.

We’re so happy E had such a wonderful time at camp We’re so happy E had such a wonderful time at camp at Thunder Mountain Ranch! ❤️

When we asked her about her favorite parts, this is what she shared:

🐴 Favorite thing about camp: The showcase — it made her feel like the “real deal!”

✨ Special memory: Making new friends and helping people.

Her words say it best:
“I love camp!”
“Thanks, it was so awesome!”

We’re so grateful she got to experience the joy, confidence, and memories that come from time spent with horses. 🐎
We often say that our greatest growth happens in t We often say that our greatest growth happens in the darkest seasons of life.

As I thought about that today, it seemed almost backwards. Plants stretch toward the sunlight. They need light to grow.

But then I remembered one of God's most precious designs.

A baby grows in complete darkness.

For nine months, my sweet Anna grew safely inside me. Those months were precious because they would become almost our entire story together this side of heaven.

If you're walking through a difficult season today, don't lose heart. Even when life feels dark, God is still at work. He hasn't forgotten you, and He isn't finished writing your story.
We are so grateful for all the wonderful families We are so grateful for all the wonderful families who applied for our horse camp scholarships. This is our first time awarding camp scholarships and we are so honored to do so. Though the decision was painfully hard to choose just one for each camp.
We pray that the children that were accepted have a week filled with joy and growth!

It's never just a lesson. That's what they say, bu It's never just a lesson. That's what they say, but if you only knew.

Every lesson is the result of generosity. It's made possible by volunteers who give their time at our fundraisers, donors who give financially, and partner barns who go above and beyond.

What may look like a simple riding lesson is so much more. It's a person building confidence, developing a relationship with a 1,000-pound animal, learning trust, overcoming fears, and sometimes reaching a lifelong dream.

And even then, we may never fully know what is taking place in someone's heart. A quiet moment with a horse can bring healing, hope, peace, and encouragement in ways that are hard to put into words.

Thank you to everyone who helps make these moments possible. It is never just a lesson. ❤️🐴

I've never met a horse that doesn't love feeding t I've never met a horse that doesn't love feeding time. My horses, in particular, wait at the barn door as I prepare their feed each day. Here, Raven is patiently watching and waiting.

It reminds me of how we need to wait expectantly for what God has for us. Waiting isn't always easy—especially when we see others receiving the very things we've been praying for.

But God's timing is perfect.

It's taken me years to understand that truth. Looking back now, I can see that if God had answered some of my prayers sooner, I wouldn't be enjoying the blessings I have today. His delays were never without purpose.

Keep trusting. Keep waiting. What God has for you is worth it.

After Anna’s passing, a few friends came and sat w After Anna’s passing, a few friends came and sat with me.
They didn’t try to have the perfect words—
they simply shared in my grief.

Their presence meant so much.

When they weren’t there, I had my horses.

So often, we as humans try to comfort with what we say…
but what people really need is someone willing to sit with them,
to listen, or simply to be there.

That’s what I love about horses—
they are fully present, right in the moment with you.

This is part of why we at Anna Roan Ministries believe horses can help bring healing
because sometimes presence speaks louder than words.
“Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word o “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.” — Romans 10:17

To know God, we spend time in His Word. We listen, we learn, we grow.

The same is true with horses. To understand them—how they think, how they respond—you have to be with them. Time, presence, and consistency matter.

That’s why Anna Roan Ministries exists. To create space for those moments. Even if it’s only a few people each year, it matters.

Origin Story Part 3 I’ve shared a little about my Origin Story Part 3

I’ve shared a little about myself and who Anna was. Now I’d like to show you how the two became a vision.

I was once the little girl who asked for riding lessons, only to hear my mom say we didn’t have the money. I wasn’t good at sports. I struggled to feel confident in anything… except with horses. It was devastating. I was fortunate to own horses, but learning and growing without a mentor can be hard.

Fast forward to after Anna was born, and I began imagining what it would look like if more people could experience the gift of horses — without cost standing in the way.

In January 2024, that vision became a reality.

Through Anna Roan Ministries, we provide each participant with a scholarship to help cover the cost of riding lessons and time spent with the horses. For many families, the opportunity to learn about horses simply isn’t financially possible.
But we both know it’s so much more than riding.

Horses teach lessons that are hard to put into words — patience, confidence, responsibility, and sometimes even healing. Time with a horse creates space for conversations, growth, and moments that stay with someone long after the ride is over.

Since we began, we’ve had the privilege of serving more than twenty people through these scholarships and experiences with the horses.

And I am deeply grateful.

Grateful for every lesson.
Every volunteer who showed up to help.
Every prayer spoken over this ministry.
And every donation that made these opportunities possible.

This story is still being written.

If you feel led to be part of it, I would be incredibly thankful for your support. Every donation — no matter the size — helps us continue offering scholarships so more people can experience the joy, growth, and life lessons that horses bring.

Thank you for being part of the story.

Origin Story Part 2: Who Anna Roan Was 💛 Meet Ann Origin Story Part 2: Who Anna Roan Was 💛

Meet Anna Roan — my sweet baby girl who lived for 112 minutes and changed my life forever.

Losing a child at any stage is devastating. But losing her so quickly, before she ever had a chance to grow up, laugh, or be known by the world, brought a unique kind of pain.

For those 112 minutes, though, she was deeply loved.

I held her, studied every tiny feature, and tried to soak in every second I was given. And then, far too soon, I had to say goodbye.

The grief that followed was overwhelming.
My husband felt the loss too, but we processed grief very differently.

One day I called my pastor in tears and asked him to pray for me. He did — but he also gently encouraged me to spend time with my horses and do the things that once brought me joy.

So I did.

Many evenings were spent crying into my horse Poncho’s neck, letting my tears fall into his mane. That time felt sacred to me. I could cry without being heard by the rest of my family or kids. Horses had always brought me comfort, but during that season, those quiet moments became a place where I could grieve.

Anna Roan is the reason I wanted to help others experience the comfort, peace, and healing that horses can bring. In one of the darkest seasons of my life, God used a horse to help carry my grief when I couldn’t hold it alone.

And that is where this story truly begins.

Stay tuned to learn how the ministry began.
Anna Roan Ministries Origin Series | Part One Hi, Anna Roan Ministries Origin Series | Part One

Hi, I’m Rachel, the founder of Anna Roan Ministries.

I’m a lifelong horse lover and grew up right here in Northwest Arkansas. I’ve been riding and loving horses since before I could walk. I grew up riding dirt roads, trails—and once, even to Patrick’s hamburger joint with change from the couch.

My cousin and I rode our horses there just to get hamburgers. Patrick’s is still there today, but Northwest Arkansas has changed a lot since then—and there was a whole lot less traffic back then.

I was incredibly blessed to grow up in a horse family, and there has truly never been a time in my life when we didn’t have horses.

They weren’t just something fun to do.
They were everything to me.

I was very shy as a kid and struggled deeply with self-confidence. But when I was with horses, all of that faded away. With them, I felt safe. I felt capable. I felt at peace. Some of my very best memories have been made with horses—moments that I still carry with me today.

Now, as an adult, horses are still woven into my life. I’ve made wonderful memories riding and camping with my husband—and now, watching my own children grow up loving horses too.

From as far back as I can remember, horses have been a source of joy, comfort, and steady peace in my life. Little did I know then just how instrumental they would become for me emotionally as life unfolded.

I look forward to sharing more in Part Two—about who Anna Roan was, and why she matters so deeply to this story.
